MINUTES FOR FRIENDS OF BALD MOUNTAIN POND FEBRUARY 24, 2004 The meeting was held in Sarah’s studio. Eight members attended. To begin, we had a great pot luck dinner. Sherri reported we still have $1652.36 in our bank account. FAB Fair: The FAB fair was held on February 21st at the Skowhegan High School. The weather was bad, and attendance was down. Winter Outing: Our plans to ski into the pond and spend the day have been canceled. The roads into the pond are not plowed, so the trek in would be huge. Evening for the pond: We again discussed having an evening in Bingham. Corrie suggested hiring someone ( like Tim Sample) to draw in local folks.. We did not come to any decision. Brochures: We again discussed getting more local awareness for Friends of Bald Mountain Pond. Jim Kane, a new member!, will ask the Bingham Health Center if we can have some brochures there. Outhouse: The existing outhouse at the boat landing is almost full and very grim. Butch suggested FOBMP take on the project of replacing it. Great idea! Ian will ask Ralph Knoll what legal steps we must follow. Perhaps we can get lumber companies to donate materials. Retreat: The annual New England Grassroots Environmental Fund Retreat will be held May 7-8th, in Elliot, Me. They will cover the cost of one member to attend. Additional members may attend. Sherri and Corrie expressed interest in going. If anyone else wants to participate call Sherri. Expo: On April 3-4th there will be an Outdoor Recreation Expo at the Community Center in Skowhegan. We discussed having a booth there. Ian will call members who are not at the meeting, to see if they can sit at the booth for a few hours. We would need people for Saturday 11-6 and Sunday 10-6. Sherri will fill out the application. Next meeting: The March meeting will be held on Tuesday March 23rd at the Skowhegan Public Library. It will begin at 5:30.
