FBMP May, 25, 2004 meeting: Members present: Mary Lou and Frank Ridley, Cory DesPres, Iver Lofving, Ian Burnes, Gust Stringos, Sherri Vigue, John Ackley. $ 1,589.64 remains in account. Paid $20 annual fee to Augusta. Annual report completed with submission of names and addresses of board members by Sarah. Thanks, Sarah. Gust assisted greatly with the completion of IRS questions for 501 3-c status. Sherri sent package to IRS 5/8/04 with map of Maine identifying Skowhegan and Bald Mountain Pond and additional maps to further clarify our case. Package was sent certified to CA. within our 21 day extension. Thank you, Gust. Butch has agreed to manage the outhouse project @ Bald Mountain Pond. Thanks, Butch. Ian's Augusta Report: Negotiations with Plum Creek moving very slowly. The Plum protested the Liquidation Harvesting legislation very strongly . Disappointing, but not surprising news given their past history in other states. June marks their 5 yr. anniversary in ME. and Ian feels this would be an oppportune time to launch a press campaign exploring Plum Creek's "good neighbor/darth vader" presence in ME. This would be followed by letters to the editor, etc. by Friends. More to be discussed at June meeting. Members are being encouraged to phone/e-mail Representative Peter Mills who is running for Senate next legislative term concerning support for the Land for Maine's Future Program. He has some clout with this decision and no finalization was made before the session adjourned. PLEASE DO THIS!!!Purchases like Bald Mountain Pond hinge on the State having $$$$ for land acquisition. June meeting: Potluck@ Len and Cory's in Cornville, June 22, 6:00. Thanks for offering, Cory!! Please phone Cory @ 474-8440if needing directions. See you in June, Sherri
